James E. Hayden, 80, died Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Nazareth Home. He was a retired educator, having taught at Trinity and JCPS. He was a member of Ascension Catholic Church and KY Water Color Society. His artistic spirit lives on in his daughter, grandsons and many nieces and nephews. The family is grateful for the loving care of Dr. Jane Cornett, the caregivers at Nazareth Home, Memory Unit at Magnolia Springs and Hosparus. Jim was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, friend, teacher and artist. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Virginia Hayden; his father, James E. Hayden Sr.; and his grandparents, Clara and Tom Savage, who along with his uncle, Tom Savage helped raise him. He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Hayden; his daughter, Jean Hayden Nusz; favorite son-in-law, Andy Nusz; brother, John T. “Jack” Hayden (Rosemary); and grandsons, Hayden and Dylan Nusz. His funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2013 at Ascension Catholic Church, 4600 Lynbrook Dr., with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday and Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. The family requests contributions made to Hosparus or Ryken House.
