James C. Geis, 84, Connersville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at Lincoln Centers for Rehabilitation and Healthcare there.One of five children, the son of Carl and Gertrude (Seffren) Geis was born July 16, 1930, in Wayne County. He was a graduate of St. Gabriel’s School and Harrisburg High School.During the Korean conflict, he served as a sergeant with the U.S. Army from August 1951 to July 1953, returning to Fayette County following his honorable discharge.On April 7, 1956, he was married to Carolyn Cook in St. Louis Catholic Church, Batesville, and she survives.The member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Connersville, and American Legion Post 1 for more than 30 years was employed with Visteon and its predecessors until his retirement in 1992.In his leisure, he enjoyed family get-togethers, pool parties and playing cards.Survivors, besides his wife of 58 years, include four daughters and a son: Donna Templeton and her husband Jim, Connersville, Audrey Snyder and her husband Malcolm, Louisville, Kentucky, Janet Miller, Indianapolis, Mary Godar and her husband Dan, Glenwood, and Jerome Geis and his wife Kendra, Westfield; 11 grandchildren: Jason (Kelly) Templeton, Amber and Carley Templeton, Mallary, Katlin and Alexandria Snyder, Skye and Lars Miller, Mitchell, Sydney and Samantha Geis; two great-grandchildren: Arden and Noah Templeton; a brother: Tom Geis and his wife Judy, Kailua, Hawaii, a sister: Sister Lorraine Geis, OSF, Oldenburg; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Daniel J. Geis; a sister: Lorraine Ratz; and a sister who died at birth.Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or St. Gabriel School.
