Mr. Leonard, 61, died at the University of Michigan Medical Center. He was born on December 28, 1949 to the late Fred and Leah (Dorion) Leonard in Bay City, MI. Jim graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1968.He was the former owner of Aloha Flower Shop and was currently employed at Duane’s Saw Complete Sharpening Service. Jim was very involved with the Bay City community as a Past Marshall of the St. Patrick’s Parade Association, a member of the Fireworks Festival, a 34 year member and Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 414, a 4th degree member of the K of C Bishop Murphy Assembly, and the originator of the Fourth of July Parade.He put his heart and soul into and thoroughly enjoyed entertaining youngsters of all ages as Santa Claus for over 40 years. He also enjoyed the company of the “Mrs. Clauses” who assisted him throughout the years: Pam Doan Dale, Virginia Siler, Karen Pratt, Lois O’Farrell, Judy Brunner, and Mary Jo Bourdon. Jim was the first recipient of the Dick Hardy Award, and also the first recipient of the Town Cryer Award. He was a member of the Church of St. Boniface.He is survived by three brothers and two sisters: Gene (Pam) Leonard, Fred (Marilyn) Leonard, Terry (Susan) Leonard, Louann (Ron) Reno, Mary Jo (Bob) Cronin; his aunt, Lois O’Farrell, many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.Information obtained online at www.obitmichigan.com”
