September 10, 2022, the family of James N. Davis (Jim) celebrates a life well lived. Born October 9, 1930 to Lillian and Oather Davis in Washington, Indiana. Jim attended high school at Saint Meinrad Seminary, in Saint Meinrad, Indiana. This proved to be a special place for Jim for the rest of his life. He went on to University of Indiana and Purdue University.

While at Purdue he met his wife of 68 years, Patricia A. Davis (Pat). He served in the Army during the Korean War. Jim and Pat married in 1953. He started his career in broadcasting. He opened the first television station in Bloomington, Indiana and was an on air personality for WLWI in Indianapolis, Indiana. Jim and Pat moved to Louisville in 1965. Jim was the Executive Director for ACCEPT, a nonprofit agency for financial counseling. In 1984 Jim joined the Gheens Foundation as the Executive Director. Together, Jim and Pat had seven children: Mike Davis (Rebecca), Patrick Davis, Debbie Johnson (David), Susan Long (Chuck), Tom Davis (Alison), Mary Biddle (Perry), Missy Davis. Jim and Pat have 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Jim loved his family fiercely. He enjoyed all sports, especially tennis. He started high jumping for the Senior Olympics at age 65. He loved camping, and spending time with his family at their lake house. Jim valued education, and donated his remains to UofL medical school.
