James A. Weikel, 88, of Evansville, passed away at Pine Haven Nursing Home to be with the Lord and to be reunited with his beloved wife, Marian, who passed away May 9, 2006. He was born and lived in Evansville his entire life. As a young man, Jim joined the seminary and developed a deep belief in God. He is a graduate of the University of Evansville and a Certified Public Accountant. Jim was a veteran of the Army serving in the Europe and Pacific Campaigns in WWII and also served in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged as a Captain of Ordnance December 31, 1952. Jim began his career working on the Louisville and Nashville Railroad and spent most of his career with Sater’s Enterprises, retiring after forty-seven years, in October 1999. He also enjoyed working with McDaniel’s CPA firm. Jim was a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, and was a member of the VFW 114. He assisted seniors with their tax returns at McCullough Library and enjoyed fishing and gardening.Jim is survived by his sons, Mark J. Weikel and wife, Lynn, of St. Louis, Mo., James M. Weikel and wife, Lisa, of Evansville; daughter, Michele Reffett and husband, Michael, of Evansville; nine grandchildren, Tori, Zachary and Jacob Weikel, of St. Louis, Jennifer Fehrenbacher and her husband, Zach, of Evansville, Katie Miller and husband, Nick, of Evansville, Eric Reffett of Evansville, Joseph Danks and his wife, Megan, of Evansville, and Courtney and Megan Miller of Evansville; four great-grandchildren, Faith and Ashley Danks, Max Miller and Laney Fehrenbacher; and a nephew, Steve Huff and wife, Elizabeth, of Bartelesville, Okla.Memorial contributions may be made to Heritage Hospice, 1202 W.
