John Edward Bucher, 72, passed away Wednesday, April 27th, 2022 at Traditions at Hunter Station in Sellersburg, Indiana. He was born in Dayton, Ohio to the late Thomas and Mary Ann Bucher. He earned his undergraduate degree from Wright State University and a PhD in Evolutionary Biology & Ecology from the University of Kansas. John dedicated more than 30 years to higher education through various administrative roles finally retiring as Chief Technology Officer at Oberlin College. John loved walking outdoors, watching Cincinnati Reds baseball, photography, attending the orchestra and a lifelong passion of bird watching. He had a joy for life and was known for his lighthearted personality.
John is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Julie; son, Matt Bucher (Anne); daughter, Molly Rubesh (Grant); brothers, Bill Bucher (Brenda) and Tom Bucher Jr.; grandchildren, Conner, Claire, Ruby, Rose, Sutton, Rylan, Reid and Brooks.
