On May 31, 2016 John Bishop passed surrounded by family and friends at JoanneÆs House at Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs, Florida.John was born in Fremont, Ohio on May 7th, 1941. He married Pat, his best friend of over 30 years, on November 24, 2011. Their love and commitment to each other was admired by all. Although they didn’t marry until later in life, he dedicated his life to making Pat happy and always put her and her family before all else.He was one of the most giving and loving men as he lived by his mother’s words, “You get love and you give it away”. There wasn’t a person he met that didn’t become his friend.John and Pat found great comfort in these Unity of Naples words “Whoever you are and wherever you are on your spiritual journey…you are welcome here.”Besides his love and commitment to Pat, one of John’s most treasured accomplishments was the beautiful book he wrote that summed up his experiences and lessons in life, ôIs There More?ö He lived a life of integrity, modesty, service, commitment, love and generosity.John was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife Pat; his step-children Greg Kerekes and Julie (Mike) Fredericksen; and grandchildren Kacey (Nick), Kristy (Nate), Dylan (Desiree), Josh, Zach; and great-grand children Gage, Mason, Ashlye, Nick, Madi, Kelcee, Spencer, and Tyler. He is also survived by his sister Peggy Bishop and his foster son Ernie (Judy) Sawyer and their children Jonge and Shawna, and his brother-in-law Glenn Shrimplin.
