John P. “Phil” Burns, 70, of Louisville, passed away at his residence. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 35 years. He graduated from St. Xavier High School in 1955 and attended Bellarmine College. He was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Thelma Burns; two brothers, Dick and Paul Burns; and two sisters, Pat Wafzig and Jean Stultz. He is survived by his wife, Betty Hayden Burns; two daughters, Beth Stilger (Al) and Mary Vadnais (Bill); two sons, John P. “Jack” Burns (Lea Ann) and Michael Burns (Brenda); two brothers, Billy and Chuck Burns; three sisters, Sister Mary Burns, S.C.N., Sister Charles Mary Burns, S.C.N., and Kitty Russell; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Louisville or St. Vincent dePaul Society.
