John Robert Kreuz, 62, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2013 at his home in Columbus, Ohio, surrounded by his family. John was born on July 19, 1951 in Toledo, Ohio. He graduated from St. Francis DeSales High School in Toledo. He had many gifts to share with others, including his passion and advocacy for philanthropy toward his fellow man. John always made time for family, and greatly enjoyed coaching his children’s basketball teams, playing golf, board games like Dominoes, and sharing his latest jokes. Ever building his relationship with God, John was an active member at St. Matthias Church where he played for the guitar group. John received his Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Toledo. He received his Masters’ Degrees in Corrections and Clinical Social Work from Xavier and The Ohio State University respectively. John continued his post graduate studies in Theology at St. Meinrad School of Theology and The Spirituality Network of Columbus, Ohio. He worked for the Riverview School for Boys, the Ohio Department of Mental Health, and Concord Counseling Services before opening his own practice, Kreuz Clinical Services. John is preceded in death by his father Robert; and brother David. He is survived by loving wife, Sharon (Horan); daughters, Julie, Emily (Bhaskar) Biswas, and Bridgette; son, James “Jimmy”; mother, Jean (Vogelbach); sister, Mary Beth Durbin; brother, Marty; along with numerous extended family. Family will receive friends Thursday, December 26, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, December 27, 2013 at St. Matthias Catholic Church, 1582 Ferris Road, Columbus, Ohio. Private family interment at a later date.
