Joseph A. Armbruster 82, formerly of Indianapolis, died in Sebring Florida. Joe was born in Indianapolis on February 19, 1928, attended St. Catherine grade school then Saint Meinrad Seminary. He left the seminary during his sixth year, started working at Schuster’s Block, and married Joan McCarthy in 1950. Joe is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan and their 5 children, Carol Cooney (Mike), Martin (Carol), Sharon Tolin (Jim), Jane McKendree (Craig), and Gary (Darla); 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by brothers, Fr. Julius, OSB, Paul and Robert and sister, Marie Sahm; his sister Virginia Toner also survives. During his 35 year career at Schuster’s Block, Inc. he was active in the leadership of several trade organizations. He served on the board of Our Lady of Grace Convent & Golf Hammock Country Club. Joe was elected to the Beech Grove City Council in 1971, was a long time parishioner at Holy Name Catholic Church, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3660. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 19th at SS. Francis & Clare Catholic Church from 4:00-8:00pm, with the Mass of Christian Burial being held on Monday, December 20th 11:00am at the same location.
