Joseph T. Johantges, of Franklin, Indiana, formerly of Nashville, Indiana and Indianapolis, Indiana passed away Monday, March 30th, 2009. He was born June 14, 1923 in Montreal, Canada. His parents are John S. Johantges and Minna Amanda Saul Johantges, who preceded him in death. He married Edna (Switzer) Johantges in 1949, who worked alongside her husband at the Flair Beauty Salon, located at 1709 E. 52nd Street in Indianapolis for 18 years. She passed away in 1959, with Mr. Johantges continuing on as sole owner. He attended St. Meinrads Seminary, Purdue University Extension, in Indianapolis, and was a graduate of the Approved University Beauty Culture. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II, where he was a member of The U.S. Navy Patrol Bombing Squadron 123, serving as plane captain. He was a member of American Legion Post 252 in Greenwood, Indiana and a life member of Brown County Post 6195 in Nashville, Indiana. Mr. Johantges had been a hairstylist for L.S. Ayres and Company in Indianapolis for 2 years and at Janet Getty Salon in Indianapolis, then owned Valley Beauty Salon from 1974 to 1977 in Nashville and Hairstyles By Joe from 1976 to 2002 in Brown County. Survivors include two daughters, Michele Graves and her husband Mark, of Morgantown, Indiana and Maria Susini and her husband John, of Brooklin, Ontario, Canada, four grandchildren, Megan Graves, Mitchell Graves, Vincent Susini, and Sebastian Susini, a sister, Florence Chimento, of Derry, New Hampshire.
