Louis Denny, formerly of Toledo, died September 20, 2025, in California at the age of 93. He was a priest of the Toledo Diocese from 1957 until 1975. In the early 80’s, Lou helped bring Hospice to Wood County and Findlay. He also worked in providing food for the poor at a Northern California food bank.

Lou was born in south Toledo in 1932, raised in the Old West End and graduated from Tiffin Calvert High School in 1949. He attended John Carroll University and graduated from Saint Meinrad Seminary College in 1953 with a degree in Philosophy. He Attended Mt. St. Mary’s Seminary in Cincinnati and was ordained a priest in 1957. His assignments included Rosary Cathedral, 1957-1966, Mansfield St. Peter’s, 1966-1968, Chaplain at Mercy Hospital, 1968-1970, Pastor at Providence St. Patrick’s parish while Chaplain at Nazareth Hall Military Academy, 1970-1974, and Pastor at St St. Jude’s parish, 1974-1975.

He is survived by his wife, Caroline; his brothers, George (Joyce) of Dayton, Rev. Charles of Perrysburg; sister-in-law, Doris Rehmert (Bob) of Dayton; also stepchildren and grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Catherine Denny; his brother, James; sister, Kathleen (Don Eggleston); and nephew, Timothy O’Hara.

Remembered in Northwest Ohio and California as having touched many lives and befriended many people.
