Melvin J. Schapker, 82, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at St. Mary’s Medical Center.Melvin was born in Evansville, Indiana on June 27, 1932 to the late Henry A. and Mary Elizabeth (Seibert) Schapker. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in the city and the Knights of St. John. Melvin was an avid genealogist and enjoyed flowers, gardening and bird watching. He also loved to bake pies, bread and cookies. Melvin will be dearly missed by all who knew him.Melvin is survived by his sister, Mary Lou Schapker; brothers, Henry Schapker and Carroll F. Schapker all of Evansville, IN, and Donald Schapker, CSC of Notre Dame, IN; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Antoinette Schapker Hagan, Alvina Schapker Lehr and a brother, Francis Schapker.
