Michael R. Gondell, age 82, is survived by his wife of 50 years, Claire (nee Persic); three children: daughter Carol (Michael) Shendrick, and sons Michael and John; sister, Eleanor (late George) Strimbu; two grandsons: Michael and Nicholas Shendrick; one niece; and many nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Anna Mae Gondell. Michael was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church, Gary. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, St. Thomas Council and the Sheil Club, Gary. He attended Saint Meinrad Seminary and was a retired Systems Analyst from U.S. Steel Gary Works with 33 years of service. After retiring from U.S. Steel, he was employed for many years at Boric Religious Articles, St. John, IN.Information obtained from the Northwest Indiana Times.
