The Very Reverend Monsignor Vincent L. Lengerich, 96, of Carthagena, OH, passed away on the 2nd Friday of Lent, February 27, 2015 in the St. Charles Center.He was born on October 29, 1918 to the late Clement and Catherine (Gase) Lengerich. He was ordained as a Catholic priest on May 22, 1948 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Ft. Wayne by His Excellency, Bishop John F. Noll. For his dedication to the Church, Father Lengerich was invested as Papal Chamberlain. Monsignor gave himself in loving priestly ministry as associate pastor of St. Patrick’s in Ft. Wayne, St. Vincent de Paul in Elkhart, and Holy Angels Cathedral in Gary, where he served as its administrator. He was also chaplain at the Carmelite Home for Girls in East Chicago, administrator of St. Patrick’s in East Chicago, and also an instructor at St. Joseph’s College. He served as pastor of Sacred Heart in Michigan City, St. Joseph’s in Hammond, St. Mary’s in Crown Point, and St. Thomas Aquinas in Knox. He had given himself generously in diocesan assignments, particularly in the area of Liturgy as Episcopal Vicar, Diocesan Consultor, and Pre-Synodal Judge. He is survived by a sister, Rita (James) Weber of Ft. Wayne; 21 nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, and great- grand-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Sr. Mary Rosella, O.L.V.M., Sr. Dorothy Ann, O.L.V.M., and Sr. Ancilla Teresa, C.S.A
