Patrick James Ryan August 24, 1918 – March 24, 2013 Resident of Aptos, CA.Patrick passed away quietly at home, surrounded by family, beloved wife Ann, sons Michael, Todd and his wife Patricia, and Kevin. Pat is also survived by sister Kathleen and husband Rob Schmitt, and sister mary Adele and husband Bob Shuler. Patrick was born in Evansville, Indiana and spent his elementary school years in Louisville, Kentucky. His studies continued at Saint Meinrad Seminary and Catholic University. During his sixteen years of public school teaching and administration in Kentucky, Utah, Wyoming and Adak, Alaska, Pat enrolled in a doctoral program at the University of Utah and received his Ph.D. In 1952. After working as a Research Assistant in the California State Dept of Education, he accepted a professorship of education at San Jose State University in 1954 where he remained for twenty-seven years. On his retirement in 1981, Pat and Ann launched into the complete planning and building of their home in the Aptos hills where they remained in what he called his “little piece of paradise”. Pat will live in our memories as a loving husband, father and friend and by many for the pleasure of his company. A true gentleman in every sense of the word. There will be no service.
