Ralph A. Brescher, 84, Jasper, died on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. He was born in Jasper on Oct. 19, 1928, to Henry Brescher and Esther (Blessinger) Brescher. He married Rosemary Egloff Sept. 3, 1953. She died Dec. 21, 2003.Surviving are son Steve Brescher and wife Debbie of Jasper; four daughters, Jane Blickenstaff and husband Stephen of Lynchburg, Va., Beth Brelage and husband Tom of Bardstown, Ky., and Karen Mundy and husband Philip and Mary Jo Messmer and husband Roger of Jasper; and 10 grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Roman Jacob; and a brother, Cyril Brescher.Mr. Brescher was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was the founder of Dubois County Tire & Supply Inc. in Jasper and the former Brescher’s Wheel Stop. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, Jasper Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 673 and American Legion Post 147.The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper. VFW Post 673 will conduct military graveside rites.Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Becher & Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Northwood Retirement Community or the American Alzheimer’s Association.
