Evansville – Raymond E. Orth, Sr., 89, of Evansville, passed away May 17, 2020 at his home. He was born December 3, 1930 in Evansville to the late Charles J. and Rosa E. (Denninger) Orth.

Ray graduated from St. Meinrad High School and attended two years of seminary at St. Meinrad. Ray served two years in the U.S. Army in Korea. Upon his return from the military, he married the love of his life, Evelyn. Ray worked at Swift Meat Packing for 10 years and retired from Alcoa after 27 years where he was a member of the 25 year club. Ray was also a member of St. James Catholic Church and a former Vice President of the PTA.

Ray is survived by his children; Nancy (Gary) Myers, Kenneth (Jean) Orth, Daniel Orth; James (Yvonne) Orth, Greg (Sheri) Orth, Barbara (Monte) Martin, Alice (Larry) Duvall, Jeffrey Orth, Charles (Lisa) Orth, Martha (Detlef) Alle, Ronald (Andrea) Orth, Mary (Mike) Sorg and Linda (Keith) Eberlein; daughter-in-law, Roberta Orth; 35 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Suzanne Reker and Sister Raymunda Orth, O.S.U.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; son, Raymond Orth, Jr.; brother, John Orth, Sr.; sisters, Clara McCraken and Mary Margaret Orth.

Due to the current pandemic, a private visitation and funeral will be held Friday, May 22, 2020 for immediate family members at St. James Catholic Church with burial immediately following in the church cemetery. A memorial celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
