Rev. Kilian Kerwin, 73, Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2015. Father Kilian was born June 10, 1942 in Donora, PA to the late James and Sue Posey Kerwin. He attended St. Dominic’s Grade School in Donora, PA. He graduated from St. Meinrad High School, St. Meinrad College and St. Meinrad School of Theology. He entered the novitiate at St. Meinrad Archabbey and professed solemn vows on August 15, 1963.He was ordained to the priesthood on September 22, 1968. Fr. Kilian received an MA degree in Religious Studies from Villanova University. Fr. Kilian served the Archabbey of St. Meinrad in various capacities over the years, including Asst. Dean of Students and Asst. Professor of Religion at St. Meinrad College. He also served as Archabbey Fire Chief, Director of Security and Master of Ceremonies. He served as pastor of St. Meinrad parish church from 1980-1996. He then moved to Indianapolis where he was employed at Frank’s Nursery and was business manager for Unity Church.Survivors include his sister, Maryann (Campo) Vaca; nephews, Michael (Carrie) Astrab nad James (Mary) Vaca; niece, Lucia (Ryan) Kelley; great-nieces and nephews, Nicholas and Kayla Astrab, Ava, Audrey and Elias Vaca, Ian Kelley and Logan Kelley.
