Reverend Brian Aloysius Kenney, born February 18, 1972, and baptized at Saint Barnabas Church in Louisville, Kentucky passed away July 10, 2025, at the age of 53. Father attended Saint Barnabas and Saint Raphael elementary schools, Saint Xavier High School, and the University of Louisville for college. He attended major seminary at Saint Meinrad School of Theology in Saint Meinrad, Indiana and was ordained a priest on June 8, 2002.
Father completed graduate studies in business at the University of Louisville; and earned a Masters in Catholic Thought and in Divinity at Saint Meinrad. Father Kenney was assigned most recently as pastor of Our Lady of Mercy Church, in Hodgenville, Kentucky and Saint Ann Church, in Howardstown, Kentucky. He also served as pastor of Saint Aloysius Church, Shepherdsville, and Saint Benedict Church, Lebanon Junction, and Saint Thomas More Church and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Father was an associate pastor at the following parishes: Basilica of Saint Joseph Proto-Cathedral, Bardstown, Saint Margaret Mary Church, Saint James, Elizabethtown, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and Saint Thomas More Church. He served as administrator of Saint Charles Church, Saint Mary, and was also a co-chaplain for Sacred Heart Academy. Father was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Joseph Kenney and Mary Agnes (Yurt)
Kenney, a brother, Bruce Kenney, nephew, Gregory Thomas Kenney, and uncle, Joseph Yurt.
He is survived by his siblings; Kevin (Linda), Dr. Barbara Pawley (Daniel), Paul (Jill), Tom (Colleen), Kathy George (Dr. Anthony), a host of nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and
nephews.
