Richard E. “Dick” Arnold, 73, of Vermilion, passed peacefully on Sunday September 12, 2021 at Mercy New Life Hospice after a lengthy illness.
He was born December 13, 1947 in Indianapolis, IN. He moved to Cincinnati, OH after graduating from Indiana University in 1969 where he not only met his wife, but developed a love for IU basketball and Bobby Knight.  In 1978 he moved to Vermilion where he spent 43 years with his wife and family.
Dick worked as a Commercial Loan Officer and Vice President at Central Trust Bank before starting Fitzgibbons Arnold & Co. Insurance Agency in 1991 with Clark Fitzgibbons.  He spent the next 27 years growing and developing the insurance agency and retired in 2018.
Dick was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Parish, AA, and the Elyria Country Club.  He earned the title of Eagle Scout in his youth and enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and socializing with clients and friends. He was happiest when surrounded by family and always enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathleen (nee Hawblitzel) Arnold of Vermilion; sons, Matt (Lisa) Arnold of Avon, Chris (Sara) Arnold of Berea; and Zach (Julie) Arnold of Avon Lake grandchildren: Max, Joe, Sam and Jake; Jack, Abby, and Emma; Anna, Charlie, and Vince; brother, David (Mary) Arnold of New Fairfield, CT; and sisters, Marcia Kirk of Indianapolis, IN and Cindy (Chris) Rentsch of Chicago, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Edna (nee Daufel) Arnold.
