Richard “Rich” Schroering, 81, of Montgomery, Alabama, was born on November 23, 1943, and passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Susan Schroering; his parents, Cyril and Bernadette Schroering; two of his brothers, Michael Schroering and Frederick Schroering; and his nephew, Dean Vollmer.
He is survived by his daughters, Deborah (David) Pullin and Karen (Kevin) Glasscock; his sisters Rita (Gary) Daunhauer, Kathleen (Ed) Vollmer, Judy (Edwin) Betz, and Mary (David) Gudorf; his brothers, Tom Schroering, Vince Schroering, Emil (Nancy) Schroering, Pat (Karen) Schroering, and Randy (Bev) Schroering; his two brothers in laws, Bobby Goetz and David Lake; and four grandchildren, Kathryn (John) Fowler, Kody Glasscock, Richard Pullin and Meredith (Cristian) Heinbach.
Richard was a retired Chief Master Sergeant in the Air Force. While in the Air Force, he was awarded numerous medals. He also received his Bachelor of Science Degree in computer science.
After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for CACI as a programmer analyst for 22 years before retiring for the second time.
He belonged to the Knights of Columbus and was very active in his church until his health started to decline. He was also a former District Deputy, Faithful Navigator and Grand Knight. He enjoyed watching baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals. Rich was a huge NASCAR fan; he enjoyed watching many different drivers except Jeff Gordon. For many years, he attended the fall race at Talladega on the infield, occasionally in Atlanta and twice in Daytona. The last time was with one of his favorite racing buddies, his grandson Richard. His last was last year.
