Robert A. Dick, age 83, of Evansville, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Deaconess Hospital Main Campus.Bob had worked for Whirlpool for 34 years before retiring in 1992. He was an active member of St. Philip Catholic Church and a Boy Scout Troop Leader. He had served as a volunteer firefighter with Marrs Township Fire Department and as a member of the United States Army. Bob loved gardening and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving Bob are his wife of 57 years, Mary Ann (Kern) Dick; a daughter, Diane (David) Gears of Evansville; three sons, Robert (Betty) Dick of Harrisburg, IL, Dan (Jean) Dick of Evansville and David Dick of Charleston, SC; one brother, James Dick of Evansville; 12 grandchildren, Greg Dick, Betsy Dick, Brad Dick, Andrea Brown, Jessica Frame, Holly File, Laura Allyn, Robbie Allyn, Amanda Sanders, Jonathan Gears, Amelia McCravy and Rosemary McCravy and five great grandchildren.Bob was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Allyn; his parents, Joseph and Thersia (Muth) Dick; five brothers and four sisters.A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 9:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at St. Philip Catholic Church, Rev. Claude Burns officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where there will be a memorial service conducted by the church at 4:00 P.M.
