Robert “Bob” A. Suding, 88, of Crystal Lake, IL, passed away September 27, 2017 at Centegra Hospital-Huntley, IL, following declining health for several years. Born in Indianapolis, IN to Nickolas and Anna (nee Kohlman) Suding, Bob graduated from Cathedral High School, received a B.S. in electrical engineering from Purdue University, and served in the US Army from 1952-1954. At age 68, Bob earned his MBA degree from Northern Illinois University. Bob married Jean Newman (1930-1987) in June, 1954 with whom he had four beloved children: the late Robert, Jr., Carolann (Jeff) Stark of Oceanside, CA, Lynn Amoni of St. Charles, IL, and Kathleen Kittle of Oceanside, CA. In April, 1989 he married Jacque (nee Funderburk) Darcy in San Diego and welcomed into his family his much-loved stepson, Mark Pruett of Nashville, TN. A gracious, kind, fun-loving, dedicated and devoted family man, Bob took huge pleasure in both his immediate and extended family. During his 60-year career as a licensed professional engineer in numerous industrial and government settings, he wore many hats as an electronics equipment designer and problem solver, owning his own successful company for 15 years. He completed his career at Intermatic in Spring Grove, IL, plus four years of consulting before his retirement in 2014. Living seven years in Sacramento, Bob and Jacque moved in 1995 to DeKalb, IL for a job opportunity for Bob. Since 2000, they have lived in Crystal Lake. In addition to his wife, daughters, and step-son, Bob is survived by his two brothers, William Suding of Indianapolis, IN and Eugene (Dee) Suding of Nashville, IN; his grandchildren, Amber (Nick) Biggs, Steven Amoni, and Dixie Thompson; his great granddaughters, Harper and Haven Biggs; his brother-in-law, Don (Sandy) Funderburk; his sister-in-law, Patricia Jindrich; his treasured nieces and nephews and their families, Trace (Teri) Funderburk, Kelli Charlton, Nick Suding, Marie Suding, Ruth Ellen (Tim) Elinski, Paul (Kelli) Suding, Patti Ciganic, Nancy (Matt) Ullrick, Jean Swearingen’s family, and Steve and Dan (Laurie) Newman; as well as numerous cousins and friends of many years.
