Robert H. Chiplis, 96, of Indianapolis passed away on March 9, 2018. Robert was born in Indianapolis on July 19, 1921 to Felix and Louise (Fischer) Chiplis. He graduated from Cathedral Highschool in 1940 and then went on to graduate with a degree from Indiana University Business Administration in 1956. Robert served proudly in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1942 to 1946. He later went on to work for Allision Division General Motors and retired after 36 years of dedicated employment. Robert was a volunteer for the Bald Eagles and the Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of the Craftsmen Forum, Rolls Royce – Allison GM Trust (Charter Member), IU Alumni Association, Allison GM Retiree Club, Serra Club and Scientech. Robert enjoyed a variety of hobbies that included traveling, photography, collector of antiques and other treasures. He loved classic cars and was the proud owner of a 1936 Graham Super Charger and a 1963 Corvette Stingray. Robert also liked to work outdoors in his yard tending and caring for trees, bushes and flowers. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; beloved and devoted wife of 60 years, Geneva M. Chiplis; and brother Felix Chiplis. Robert is survived by his loving children Michele Beemer of Washington, MA; Jeffry Chiplis of Cleveland, OH; Ann Robert of Hawaii, Jane Barnett of Falls City, OR; brother Thomas Chiplis of Indianapolis, IN.
