Robert Henry Edelen, III, 93, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 3, 2018. He was born July 19, 1924, to the late R. H. Edelen, Jr., and Leona Rapier Edelen. A curious and compassionate individual with a love for life, Bob graduated from St. JosephÆs School, Bardstown, Kentucky, and entered the Xaverian Brothers, Professed and taught English and Literature at Trinity High School. He continued summer work in New York City expanding his broad appreciation of the Arts and Film. He then attended St. MaryÆs and St. Meinrad Seminaries after which he was ordained to the Priesthood on June 11, 1960. Among other assignments, he ministered to the McDanielÆs Family and the community of St. PaulÆs Church, Jackson Street, Louisville, Kentucky. In the 1970s, he resigned the priesthood and later married Mary Louise Fougerousse McDaniel.His death follows that of his wife, of forty-three years, Mary Louise Fougerousse Edelen, by one month to the day. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers and six sisters. Surviving is his sister, Virginia Bennett; and numerous nieces and nephews.The Family would like to express a warm appreciation and Thank You to Mary LouiseÆs former daughter-in-law and guardian, Mary Helen Edwards, for her dedication, care and support of Robert and Mary Louise.
