Robert G. Fernbaugh, 87, of Rockford passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, November 16, 2017. He was born in Fargo, ND, on February 26, 1930, the son of Louis and Florentine (Mahrer) Fernbaugh. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He graduated Cum laude from the University of Detroit and studied at the St. Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology in St. Meinrad, IN. On September 1, 1956, he married Betty Bolde in Detroit, MI. Bob worked for SwedishAmerican Hospital and Beloit Clinic after many years with Ford Motor Co., and General Food Corp. Bob was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a devoted and active member of Holy Family Catholic Church for 45 years. He is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Timothy (Chong) Fernbaugh, Mary Kay (Othello) Garganera, Ann Marie (Lynn Mark Andrews) Sanchez, Theresa Fernbaugh, Paul Fernbaugh, and Matthew Fernbaugh; grandchildren, Robert (Leslie) Fernbaugh, Elizabeth (Michael) Eveland, Richard Fernbaugh, Kathleen (Levi) Derber, Amy (Thomas) McCann, and Emily (Nickolas) Hamel; great-grandchildren, Charles Derber, Dina Eveland, Edison Fernbaugh, Samantha Derber, Gabriel Eveland, and Nora McCann; brother, Louis “Greg” (Sharon) Fernbaugh; special friends, Bill and Jane Weida; and beloved pets, Jesse and Ilsa. He is predeceased by his parents, grandson, Nathan, and brother, Richard Fernbaugh. A very special thank you to Rose and the staff at OSF Hospice for all of their care and compassion.
