FRITSCH ROBERT L., Sr. On Friday, February 4, 2005 of Baldwin. Soul mate of Marsha Fritsch; father of Robert Jr. & Matthew; beloved son of Lavina & the late Lawrence Fritsch; beloved son-in-law of Edward & Eleanor Moore; brother of Barry Fritsch; brother-in-law of Ellen Moore, Eileen (Tom) Marucci; uncle of Kelly (Bill) Monroe & son, Zach, Kevin (Tammy) McCracken & daughter, Kaetlyn and Martin Thomas Marucci. Mr. Fritsch, while serving in the U.S. Army as a Specialist Four, was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with “V” Device for heroism in connection with ground operations against a hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam on April 13, 1970. The Service Battery, 1st Battalion, 39th Artillery came under intense enemy fire while Mr. Fritsch was sleeping. He awoke to the sounds of impacting mortars and immediately took a defensive position on the perimeter. When he realized the desperate need for more ammunition, Mr. Fritsch fearlessly volunteered to make re-supply runs to three different batteries. Bob was a loving husband and father.
