Ronald E. Schroeder O’67 (’55-58), age 73, of Ireland, IN, died Friday, July 11, 2014, at his home. He was born in Jasper January 9, 1941, to Joseph and Esther (Fischer) Schroeder. He married Sue Bleemel October 12, 1963, in Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper.Ron was a 1959 graduate of Jasper High School and served in the Indiana National Guard. He retired from Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper where he worked as an emergency medical technician. He served for 41 years as a firemen and first responder for the Ireland Fire Department. He was a member of the Ireland Water Utilities for over 30 years, served on the board and was a past president of the utility. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Ireland, a member and past grand knight of the Ireland Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Ireland Sportsman’s Club. He enjoyed working on the family farm, Beaver Lake, fishing, playing cards, and his dogs.He is survived by his wife, Sue Schroeder, two daughters, Rhoda Hedrick and husband Brent, Indianapolis, and Deborah Dysert and husband Steven, Sorrento, Florida; seven grandchildren; Abby, Lydia, Nathan, and Luke Hedrick, and Alexis , Alyssa, and William Dysert; six sisters, Kate Labhart and husband Neil, Jasper, Rose Ann Sanders and husband Harold, Reelsville, Carolyn Auffart, Ferdinand, Rebecca Schroeder, Evansville, Linda Lambert and husband Dave, Evansville, and Christine Prior, Huntingburg; and three brothers, Leroy Schroeder and wife Bernetta, and James Schroeder and wife Donna, all of Jasper, and Charles Schroeder and wife Ruth, Greencastle.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Michael Scott Schroeder, and two sisters, Norma Jean Mehringer and Cynthia Rosbottom.Services were July 16 at St. Mary’s Church, followed by burial in the church cemetery.
