Rose S. Ranno went home to God on Saturday, November 3. She was 95 years young. She is survived by her children Philip (Jean) of St. Clair Shores, Michigan; and Marlene (Louis) of Nanuet; 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.A parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Pelham Manor until 2000, she was an active member of the Legion of Mary for 20 years and continued praying the LOM Rosary daily. She became a Benedictine Oblate in 1966 and was the Coordinator for the New York Chapter from 1972 to 2000, which encompasses Westchester, Long Island, and The Bronx. She was also a member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society at OLPH. Late in life Rose graduated from Mercy College and became an LPN and worked at Misericordia Hospital in the Bronx until her retirement in 2000.In 2000 she moved to the Saint Meinrad Archabbey in Indiana on a sabbatical that lasted until 2009 when Rose returned to New York and resided at the Esplanade at Chestnut Ridge Assisted Living facility where she made many friends.Visiting is Thursday, November 8, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 9, at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Parish Church in Nanuet with Christian burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rose’s memory to Saint Meinrad Archabbey200 Hill DriveSt. Meinrad, IN 47577orUnited Hospice of Rockland11 Stokum LaneNew City, NY 10956.
