Sam Joseph Ajamie, 90, died peacefully of natural causes on February 12, 2019 at St. Paul Hermitage. Sam was born March 18, 1928 in Indianapolis to Sam and Ruby (Tradd) Ajamie. He was preceded in death by his wife Joanne, siblings Phil, Lucille, Corrine Ajamie, Faye Williams; beloved grandson Joe Ajamie. He is survived by his children John (Meri Simon), Steve (Maureen), Bill (Karen), Jim (Trish), Mary, Anne (Jon) Hall, Dave (Kris), Rose Ajamie; his sister Marie Ajamie; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nephew Mark Williams; niece Mary Anne (Williams) Weisman; and many close cousins. Sam was proud of being an Irvington Indianapolis resident. He was a 1945 graduate of Cathedral High School and attended St. Meinrad School of Theology. He retired from Western Electric after 28 years of employment. He was a devout Catholic and parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church since 1959. Some of his memberships include being a 3rd and 4th degree member of Our Lady of Fatima Knights of Columbus, Silvertones of Fatima, and Pioneer Group. Sam was also an Oblate of St. Benedict and he lived his life following the Rule of St Benedict: ôThat God may be glorified in all thingsö. For the oblate, ôall thingsö encompass prayer, work, studies, church, recreation, family, friends. He unequivocally kept God first in every aspect of his life. A gentle, funny, and loving Euchre-playing man, he was deeply devoted to his family and friends. He loved to travel and visit family and friends. Among SamÆs most special gifts was his service to others. His countless hours of volunteer service at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of Fatima Retreat House, being a Communion Minister to the sick and housebound, to name a few, was undaunted. The family wish to extend their gratitude to the Our Lady of Lourdes community and St. Paul Hermitage staff for their love and care of Sam.
