Sr. Marcella Anne Sullivan (Sr. Mary William Joseph) of the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, entered into rest on Friday, July 3, 2015 at Calvary Hospital in Bronx, NY. She was 88. Daughter of the late William and Sadie (Powers) Sullivan, she was born June 24, 1927 in the Bronx. Sr. Marcella entered Religious Life on September 8, 1946 at Mount St. Joseph in New Windsor. She made First Vows on April 21, 1949 and Final Vows on April 21, 1952. She was a graduate of Aquinas High School, Manhattan College where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in 1954, St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing as an LPN, Madonna University in Livonia, MI earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Gerontology, received Clinical Pastoral Education at Abington Memorial Hospital in PA, and was a Certified Chaplain through the National Association of Catholic Chaplains. Sr. Marcella was an Elementary Teacher from 1949-1964 for Holy Rosary in Bronx, NY, St. Lucy’s Elementary in Houma, LA, and St. Raphael School in Long Island City. She served as Infirmary Administrator for Mount St. Joseph from 1965-1981, was the Director of Home Health Care for St. Frances of Rome Church in Bronx, NY, served as Staff Chaplain for Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center in Bronx, NY, was the Chaplain and Director of Pastoral Care for Frances Schervier Home, and Infirmary Supervisor for Mount St. Joseph in New Windsor from 1994-2000. She also served as P/T Activity Leader at Schervier Pavilion in Warwick, NY. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mrs. Kathleen Sullivan, as well as nieces and nephews.
