Sister Marie (Consilium) Moore, R.S.M., a native of Nashville and member of the Sisters of Mercy for 65 years, died March 18, 2017 at Physicians Regional Medical Center. She was 84 years old. She entered the Sisters of Mercy September 8, 1951. Sister served in many roles at the former St. Mary’s Medical Center – supervisor, medical units (1957-1961); instructor, School of Nursing (1963-1965); Director, School of Nursing (1965-1967); and St. Mary’s President/CEO (1971-1983). She returned in 2008 as Mission Representative until her death.Sister Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Elizabeth; her brothers, Tom and Pat; and brothers-in-law, Dick Duncan and Bob Rupp. Sister is survived by her brother, Edgar James (Doris) Moore, Lewisburg, TN; sisters, Geraldine Duncan, Kansas City, MO, Clara Rupp, Lewisburg, TN, Margaret Ann Moore, Nashville, TN, Virginia (Jay) Gloede, Glen Burnie, MD, and Catherine (Bill) Brancheau, Toledo, OH; sisters-in-law, Nancy Moore, Maryville, TN, and Linda Moore, Knoxville, TN; many nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews; and members of her religious community.
