Sister Kathleen McShay, OSF, 79, of the Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg, IN, died Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at the convent.She attended Summer Session at Saint Meinrad School of Theology from 1971-73.Born May 9, 1935, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Mildred (Sage) and Hubert McShay. She entered the convent Sept. 8, 1953, and made her final vows Aug. 12, 1959. Sister Kathleen worked 48 years as a teacher, director of religious education, home health care worker, hospital chaplain and pastoral associate. Schools she taught at and parishes she assisted with include St. Mary’s, Evansville; Holy Family, Richmond; St. Bernadette’s, St. Mark’s, St. Lawrence and Nativity Parish, Indianapolis; Archdiocesan office, Indianapolis; St. Peter’s, Columbia City; St. Michael’s, Brookville; Holy Guardian Angels, Cedar Grove; St. Mary’s, Middletown, Ohio; St. Bartholomew’s, Cincinnati; St. Mary’s, Oxford, Ohio; and St. Mary’s, Warsaw, Missouri; The Community Hospital, Indianapolis; Richmond Hospital, Richmond; Home Health Care, Franklin; and Margaret Mary Health, Batesville, is where she served as chaplain or in home health care. She served as a member of the Summer Session Alumni Board at Saint Meinrad from 1988-1994.She is survived by her sister, Mary Ellen Barnes, as well as several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Pat Kegeris and brother William McShay.The funeral was held June 6 at the convent chapel with the Rev.
