Reverend Father Simeon Bruce Sibenik, retired priest of the Archeparchy and as pastor of Saints Peter and Paul Church in Warren, Ohio, fell asleep in the Lord on Monday, March 17, 2025.

The second son of the late Albert and Margaret (Gidusko), he was born on June 7, 1950 in Trenton, New Jersey.

Father Simeon received his elementary education from the Sisters of Saint Basil at Saint Mary of the Assumption parish school in Trenton, a graduate of Cathedral High School there, he went on for further study at Don Bosco College in Newton, Jersey and at Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology in St. Meinrad, Indiana.
He was ordained to the priesthood on March 25, 1981, by Metropolitan Archbishop Stephen Kocisko. A former member of the Benedictine Monks in Butler, Pennsylvania, He was accepted as a priest of the Archeparchy by Metropolitan Archbishop Judson M. Procyk on July 18, 1995.

He served the Pennsylvania parishes of Holy Trinity, Wall; St. John, Hawk Run and Dormition, Clarence; Holy Trinity, Sykesville and Nativity, Du Bois; Cathedral of St. John, Munhall; St. Mary, East Pittsburgh, Sts. Peter and Paul, Punxsutawney and St. Jude, Ernest.

On October 10, 2015, he was appointed to Sts. Peter and Paul in Warren and St. Michael in Newton Falls, both in Ohio. St. Michael was closed in 2017 and Father Simeon continued as pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul until his retirement from active ministry in the Archeparchy on August 1, 2022.

On the Archieparchial level, Father Simeon was the Director of Religious Education, Consultor,

Protopresbyter of the North Central Protopresbyterate and member of the Presbyteral Council, Tribunal and Seminary Board of Directors.

He is survived by his brother, Matthew and his wife, Gloria Sibenik, of Hamburg, New York and by many cousins.
