Sunday, July 21

Registration, Dinner, Prayer, Reception, Movie

Registration for the Alumni Reunion was held from 2 p.m. – 11 p.m. on Sunday, July 21st. Dinner was served at 5:15 p.m. and a reception was held in Alumni Commons at 7:30 p.m. A viewing of the documentary on Mr. Rogers, “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” was screened in St. Bede Theater at 8 p.m.


Monday, July 22

Golf Scramble, Workshops, Guided Tours, Anniversary Class Banquet, Concert

Fr. Denis Robinson, OSB, presented a conference on evangelization to the millennial generation.

Father Denis Robinson, OSB, monk of Saint Meinrad and President-Rector of Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology presented on Monday, July 22, on “iGen: Preaching the Gospel to the next generation.” Listen to Part 1 and Part 2 of his presentation.

Bob O’Connor O’71, director of The Saint John’s Bible Heritage Edition Project at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, gave an afternoon workshop on his work and had volumes of the Saint John’s Bible on display, while David Orberson MTS’05 presented on his new book published by Cascade Books entitled Thomas Merton – Evil and Why We Suffer (2018). Bob O’Connor presented a conference on The St. John Bible Heritage Collection.

A Golf Scramble was held at Christmas Lake Golf Course in Santa Claus, IN at 10 a.m.

Guided tours of Saint Meinrad by Br. Zachary, OSB and the Abbey Caskets facility by Jenny Keller were at 3 p.m. Also, a concert was put on by an alumni band entitled “The Messengers’ 50th Anniversary: How Can We Keep From Singing Farewell Concert” in the evening.

 


Tuesday, July 23

Day of Recollection, Guided Tours, Alumni Reunion Mass and Banquet

Father Brendan Moss, OSB, monk of Saint Meinrad and President-Rector of Conception Seminary College in Missouri, offered a Day of Recollection on Tuesday, July 23, entitled “Be Hearers and Doers of the Word: The Letter of James.” Listen to Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 of his talks.

A guided tour of Saint Meinrad took place at 9:00 a.m. and another guided tour of Abbey Caskets took place at 1:15 p.m.

 

Bishop Joseph Siegel of the Diocese of Evansville.

Bishop Joseph Siegel C’84 of the Diocese of Evansville presided and preached at Tuesday afternoon’s Reunion Mass in the Archabbey Church.

This year’s Distinguished Alumnus Awards were given to Mary Ann Olmsted SS’82, Deacon Frank Olmsted SS’79, and William “Bill” P. McGuire O’64 at the Alumni Reunion Banquet in Newman Dining Room Tuesday evening.
